VP, Controller – Financial Reporting

What You’ll Do

As the VP Controller – Financial Reporting will manage the monthly book closing process, review monthly journal entries and supervise the consolidation process.

This includes determination of the required accounting for new, complex and non-routine transactions.

Will be responsible for the preparation of the financial statements including drafting of footnotes and preparation of the supporting accounting memos.

The VP Controller – Financial Reporting will work with the rest of the accounting team to ensure that all significant transactions are completely captured and accounted in the financial statements.

The VP Controller – Financial Reporting will supervise the day-to-day activities of the accounting team, integration of newly acquired subsidiaries, implementation of new accounting system and implement controls over financial reporting.

What you’ll be working on

  • Supervise the preparation of the monthly and quarterly financial reports 
  • Prepare management discussion and analysis – review of variances and significant transactions
  • Supervise the monthly book closing process.

    Implement month-end, quarter-end and year-end calendar of activities. 

  • Determine the accounting for new, complex and non-routine transactions and prepare the required accounting memos
  • Prepare reports required by the credit agreements
  • Review and approve other routine and non-routine journal entries
  • Review reconciliation and analyses of various accounts
  • Review consolidation, eliminations and other entries
  • Perform budget to actual analysis, investigate variances and analyze trends as part of routine review of financials
  • Lead the accounting integration and monitoring of newly acquired subsidiaries
  • Lead the coordination with the external auditors 
  • Supervise and prepare information required by external auditors and consultants
  • Supervise the preparation and review reports to external parties and other stakeholders
  • Provide financial advice by studying operational issues; apply financial principles and practices; and developing recommendations to improve policies and procedures
  • Work on ad hoc financial projects 

Must Haves 

  • Graduate of an accounting degree, CPA a must
  • 8-10 years’ experience in combined private and public accounting preferred
  • Experience with NetSuite preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Ability to prepare financial analysis and other reports that may be required by management
  • Experienced in accounting for multiple entities, consolidation and intercompany transactions
  • Ability to navigate complex accounting transactions such as business combinations, share-based compensation, debt and equity transactions
  • Experience in evaluating and implementing changes to accounting policies and practices in response to business changes
  • Experience in design, implementation and testing of internal controls

  • Ability to organize and standardize accounting processes and procedures
  • Detail oriented and ability to understand the big picture
  • Excellent analytic skills, ability to identify variances or unusual trends that has accounting implications
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Organized and possess good time management skills
