Senior UX Designer


This is a Full-time position in Rochester, NY posted February 15, 2021.

We are recruiting for a Senior UX Designer in Rochester, NY. The Senior User Experience Designer will be responsible for guiding and designing a world class user experience for all applications developed, primarily focusing on consumer facing applications. The Senior User Experience Designer will collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, key customer staff, and feature teams to understand requirements, identify core problems to be solved, and translate this understanding into compelling, elegant, and easy to use consumer experiences. Serve as a change agent, working with our stakeholders and development teams, to instill a user-centered mindset and focus into everything we do. Responsibilities As a User Experience Designer, you will be part of a team of working across the organization to provide the best possible experiences for our applications. Collaborate with software roadmap planners to transform product visions into beautiful, elegant experiences Work with product management, customers, and system analysts to determine requirements, articulate user needs, and translate those needs into concepts and elegant interface designs Define interaction models, user task flows, and UI specifications Design application user interfaces (including information architecture and interaction design) Communicate scenarios, end-to-end experiences, interaction models, and screen designs to stakeholders Evaluate existing user experiences and identifying areas for improvement Participate in user testing sessions and interviewing customers with relevant skills and responsibilities Meet with business clients and developers to collect requirements and verify design feasibility Research UI design and development techniques to find innovative and elegant solutions to complex UI problems Mentor and guide other UX and Graphic designers to maintain design consistency and coherence across the product as appropriate Produce design documents that explain your design to clients and developers Create UI resources such as flows, wireframes, simple visuals, audio, video, and help documentation Test application UIs to ensure proper implementation, and filing bugs to track problemsdiscrepancies Expectations Within 6-9 Months Establish solid understanding of the major applications developed, what they are used for, how they operate, and the customer personas of their users. Establish a collaborative relationship with teams. Establish a strong collaborative working relationship with more junior UX members of the team. Establish a good understanding of our industry. Apply knowledge of our industry and products to evaluate and identify UX recommendations for one application. Serve as a UX guide for software roadmap decisions, helping to establish the user interaction and customer experience needed for the long term roadmap of at least one application. Within 9-18 Months Establish themselves and the UX expert that guides the company, Marketing, and our customers for all UIUX questions, decisions, recommendations, etc. Provide UX vision for all applications, either directly or via mentoring of more junior UX designers. Education Bachelorrsquos Degree in Graphic Design, Human Factors or equivalent undergraduate degree. Masters preferred. Required SkillsExperience Describe the minimum required skillsexperience to perform the position Experience 3-5 years of direct and relevant experience in a User Experience Designer role. 2-3 years of experience in creating User Experiences for consumer facing applications, specifically focused on e-Commerce. Technical Skills Strong technical skills including solid understanding of computer operating systems (desktop and mobile) and specific, relevant technologies used in the development of their specific product(s). Proficiency in tools focused on rapid prototyping as well as high fidelity prototyping via Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar products like Sketch, Axure and Invision (primarily focused on the Adobe suite of software). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Outstanding demonstration and presentation skills Knowledge of multiple software development technologies that will be used in the development of the products to be managed. 1-3 yearsrsquo experience with SCRUM or an equivalent software development methodology. Ability to rapidly learn and adopt new technologies. Workstation OS is preferred to be MacOS. Strong knowledge and experience with modern UX standards and their application towards desktop, mobile and and other user experiences. Strong ability to build relationships.
