WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Structural Engineer for our Briarcliff Manor, NY office. The Briarcliff Manor Office provides transportation and infrastructure services to numerous agencies and private clients in the New York Metropolitain Area. Our work includes both new design and rehabilitation of existing bridges and highways for a wide variety of public and private sector clients including: MTA – Bridges and Tunnels (MTA-B&T, TBTA); MTA – Metro-North Railroad (MTA – MNR); MTA – Long Island Rail Road (MTA – LIRR); New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT); New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT); New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA); Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ); New York State Bridge Authority (NYSBA); utility companies; and various municipalities in southern New York. Duties and Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will have broad-based, hands-on experience in structural and transportationengineering including the ability to execute tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Assignments may include: Planning, Analysis, Design and Rehabilitation of Highway Bridges, Transportation Facilities for all phases of a project from conceptual design through final design; Analysis Design and Retrofit of Retaining Walls; Construction Staging Analysis; Evaluation of Existing Structures and Load Ratings; Plan Development, Preparation of Specifications, Review of Construction Phase Submittals and Shop Drawings, Preparation of Technical Reports, and Participation in Field Work including Construction and Structural Integrity Inspection.
Experience with structural steel design, reinforced concrete design and prestressed concrete design is required
Must be able to serve as a structural task lead and be capable of leading a design team in the preparation of plans and reports for the various design phase submissions
Other duties may include: Project Management; Mentoring; Client Interaction and Preparation of Proposals including Cost Proposals.

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university in Civil Engineering with a focus in structural engineering
A minimum of 5-7 years demonstrated experience in structural design is required
A New York State Professional Engineers license, or professional engineers license in another state with ability to obtain a New York State Professional Engineers license is required
Familiarity with NYSDOTstandards, guidance and procedures is required
Ability to efficiently use structural analysis software such as MIDAS, Larsa, SAP 2000, RISA 3D or equal is required
This position requires the ability to work independently with minimum supervision as a lead engineer on major projects
Successful candidate will mentor and guide junior engineers during the planning and design process
Successful candidates will have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSPs Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSPs health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications: A Masters Degree is a plus
Ability to prepare CADD sketches for further development by CADD operators is a plus
Experience with project scheduling software is a plus.
