The Hartford is looking for a driven and motivated Senior Data Engineer to join the IOT technology team, supporting Y-Risk.

Y-Risk is an underwriting group within The Hartford focused on the Sharing & On-Demand Economy.

As experts in this ever evolving space, Y-Risk provides insurance solutions by developing customized coverage and usage-based pricing models that match each client&39;s individual business needs.

The Y-Risk Sr Data Engineer will be a multi-disciplinary computer scientist or engineer capable of working with a variety of data sources and languages.

They will be responsible for orchestrating the integration of data from internal and third party sources and proactively solving architectural and programming challenges required to support growth of this fast moving business segment.

Along with the technical capabilities and discipline to achieve results, we are looking for a candidate with a start-up mindset to solving problems and developing creative solutions.

Responsibilities Create data acquisition, integration, matching, engineering, storage and extraction methodologies Coordinate with enterprise data office, data science, IT, and vendors to operationalize the foundational capabilities underlying the data strategy needed to ingest Y-Risk data and derive insights Leverage appropriate tools and methodologies to help the data science team derive analytical insights from Y-Risk data both independently and in conjunction with HIG data (e.g., loss experience) Coordinate with data science, product, underwriting, and vendors as necessary to create data delivery capabilities Measure outcomes of test and learn experiments to inform path forward for Y-Risk and to deliver valuable insights to core business operations Perform cost benefit analysis of data ingestion solutions The position is located in the greater Hartford, CT area but a remote work option will be considered May require up to 10% travel Experience & Skills: Bachelor&39;s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Analytics, Actuarial Science, or relevant field with 3 or more years of IT experience Understanding and experience using web services and cloud based development primarily AWS Experience with REST APIs, GraphQL APIs, SQL databases, and NoSQL databases Strong Python and Javascript programming capability Familiarity with Git, and DevOps toolchains, e.g.

CodeDeploy, CodePipeline, Jenkins Comfortable with Linux operating system Experience with tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, SAM Understanding of serverless architectures Experience accessing and retrieving data from large data sources Experience with data modeling, data warehousing tools, and data bases Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills Team player with demonstrated experience partnering with Business Intelligence, Analytical, Actuarial, and/or Data Science communities Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills with ability to effectively communicate with senior management Effective communication of data strategies and how to impact and influence others Relationship management, execution, and delivery Results oriented with the demonstrated ability to apply strategic and decisive problem solving skills in ambiguous situations Equal Opportunity Employer/Females/Minorities/Veterans/Disability/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity or Expression/Religion/Age Sr Data Engineer
