This role is part of our Integrated Experience (IX) Design team where we navigate the flood of information to surface understanding, reveal human insights and illuminate hidden opportunities.

We will serve the end-to-end lifecycle of data—deeply understanding how people USE data and how we can enhance that workflow.We’re seeking a research lead who is passionate about the field of user experience research in a digital product environment, has led large-scale research projects, and has excellent communication skills.

In this role, you will be leading qualitative and quantitative studies during all phases of the design process, from discovery and definition to tracking in-market metrics.

In addition to leading research studies yourself, you will also provide coaching and guidance to UX designers and junior researchers who are conducting research to assure a high bar of research rigor is met across all workstreams.

Finally, you will work closely with the design lead and product and tech partners to turn research insights into strategic recommendations for the future of the products and platforms we build.ResponsibilitiesPartner with designers, other researchers, and product teams to identify and prioritize research questions based on analysis of current knowledge, project goals and risksConduct empathy interviews, quantitative and qualitative user testing and analysis throughout the product lifecycleUtilize research findings to drive requirements, personas, user stories and use cases.Conduct concept and usability testing and analysis of resultsLeverage analytics tools and techniques to measure success, present opportunities, and support decision-making and prioritization for in market experiencesCollaborate with the team to facilitate strategic decisions and define product and project roadmap based on research findingsEffectively and intelligently influence the iteration of products and services by pinpointing key data points from researchActively monitor and analyze research, data, and trends from internal sources, academic research, and industry published reports to inform and improve our research methodologyApply problem-solving skills to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutionsPresent and communicate research and analysis clearly and effectively to various organizations and audiences.Use Design Thinking and agile methodologiesYou’re a good fit if you:Enjoy collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to develop a rich understanding of the human / business / technical perspectives of big meaty challengesAre comfortable navigating through ambiguous problem spaces in pursuit of clarity and concrete outcomesCommunicate complex concepts simply and always strive to make things tangible, whether they’re conversations, frameworks, or ideasStay on top of the latest research and technology trends and are up for the challenge of finding ways to responsibly use those technologies and techniquesYou are curious with a bias toward action and are always seeking new ways to growYou actively seek out ways to elevate others and add to the culture of any team you are a part ofBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree or military experienceAt least 5 years of experience in User Experience ResearchAt least 5 years of experience with design thinking toolsPreferred Qualifications:Master’s Degree in Psychology, HCI or related fieldExperience working with data7+ years of experience with a digital product & services company7+ years of experience in UX Research2+ years of people management experienceAt this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
