Department Overview

The Americas Division (“AD”) was established in the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, New York Branch) (“SMTBNY”) to perform corporate functions and supervise U.S. entities. Established under the AD are the “Global Banking Unit (“GBU”), Americas Division” and “Global Markets Unit (“GMU”), Americas Division” which performs business functions. The Financial Risk Management Department (“FRM”), as the second line of defense in the Branch, provides independent measurement, monitoring and evaluation services related to Financial Risks (Credit, Market and Liquidity), in addition to the efforts by process/business owners (GBU and GMU) as the first line of defense. FRM establishes appropriate policies, procedures, and the risk management framework to evaluate the financial risks inherent in the Branch operations. FRM also conducts special scenarios analysis to quantitatively and qualitatively assess financial risk faced by the Branch and provides objective assessment of the Financial Risk to the Branch Management and the Head Office. FRM is directly involved in all financial risk related projects, matters and issues.

Position Overview:

Fully knowledgeable on the day-to-day activities, resolves complex issues where expertise is required to interpret policies, guidelines, and practice. May be considered a subject matter expert for one or more functions or processes. Focus on operational execution and occasional broader planning within areas of expertise. May have direct report subordinate staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Performs independent loan reviews to evaluate the creditworthiness of the obligor and/ or credit facility and to assign a risk rating to provide an independent periodic and objective assessment of the underlying credit by analyzing financial statements and other external data obtained from external sources.
* Maintain an advanced level of understanding of credit risk policies/requirements, regulatory expectations and contribute to improving effectiveness and efficiency of the credit risk analysis processes/methodologies.
* Attend GBU’s Focus List meetings.
* Request and verify input of CLO Broker price verification in department database and sending price report to the Controller’s department
* Responsible for administrative tasks, including: preparing presentations, verifying monthly reports and inputs, monthly retrieval of exchange rates, verification of rating input in the loan track system
* Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
* Performs ad hoc risk analysis as needed by management

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, or economics.
* Good computer skills in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word.
* Familiarity with credit analysis practices, preferred.
* Must have good organizational skills.
* Must possess strong communication skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills are required.

Officer Qualifications – Officer – Advisory / Operations

* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, economics, accounting or its equivalent with 2-3 years of related experience.
* PC skills: spreadsheets and word-processing. Good oral and written communication.
* Understands the basics of the job function and workflows of area of specialty. Responsible expenditure of banks resources.
* Responsible to execute departmental actions in compliance with Bank policies and procedures.
