This is a Full-time position in Syracuse, NY posted January 15, 2020.

Summary: The Cardiovascular Imaging Registered Professional Nurse IV (CVI RN IV) is accountable for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process.

The CVI RN IV assesses plans, delivers, coordinates, integrates, and evaluates nursing care related to patient needs at a proficient level.

The CVI RN IV contributes to the support of patients through interdisciplinary teamwork and assures that the care provided is consistent with applicable standards, regulations, statutes and state and federal law.

The CVI RN IV provides leadership to department staff serving as a resource and mentor.

Under the direction of the Cardiovascular Imaging Center Operations Manager performs prompt, hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation, accurate documentation and recording of all procedural hemodynamics and equipment usage.

Complete and accurate documentation of all American College of Cardiology data, New York State reporting data and other required data reporting.

Invasive quality technical diagnostics and support for patients in the outpatient, inpatient or acute care setting.

Maintains inventory and stock for the cardiovascular imaging center procedure rooms.

This individual must be able to work with sterile fields while being able to set up the sterile trays specific to the individual exams required.

Takes on other responsibilities as assigned including on call.

Other information: Education/Qualifications: Bachelors degree required (experience may be substituted for degree as stated below) Bachelors degree in Nursing preferred Masters degree in Nursing preferred Experience: With No degree: 10 years of RN experience required 3 years of above RN experience must be within relevant practice area 2 years of above RN experience must be within Bassett Healthcare Network With Bachelors degree (Non-Nursing): 5 years RN experience required 3 years of above RN experience must be within relevant practice area 2 years of above RN experience must be within Bassett Healthcare Network With BSN or MSN: 5 years of RN experience required 2 years of above RN experience must be within relevant practice area 2 years of above RN experience must be within Bassett Healthcare Network Licensure/Certificates: Current NYS license as a RN required for all education levels BLS certification required for all education levels Certification in area of practice required (this requirement is waived for candidates with BSN or MSN degree) Advanced level registry/certification required and includes RCIS – Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist, PCCN – Certification in Progressive Care Nursing, CCRN
– Certification in Critical Care Nursing and CVN I, II, III – Certification in Cardiac/Vascular Nursing).

This requirement is waived for candidates with BSN or MSN degree.

Skills: Ability to assess patient status and take appropriate action is required.

Demonstrates competency in required nursing skills relevant to practice area.

Ability to multi-task effectively in a rapidly changing environment.

Ability to function in charge nurse or leadership capacity as determined by practice arena.

Ability to function in leadership capacity as determined by practice arena.

Ability to prepare all equipment used during procedures, physiologic recording and life support.

Ability to provide high quality invasive cardiac diagnostics services for both inpatient/outpatients and critically ill patients.

Ability to work in a sterile field as a scrub technician.

Maintains proficiency in the use and operation of various interventional equipment.

This includes Aortic Balloon Pumps, Intra Vascular Ultrasound, Pressure Wire, Filter Wire, Impella and Temporary Pacemakers.

This will be achieved within 6-12 months from date of hire.

Maintains proficiency in the following procedures: Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterization of the Left and Right Heart by the femoral and arm approach, Pacemaker and Internal Cardiac Defibrillator insertion, Percutaneous Cardiac Intervention, Cardioversions, Diagnostic Electrophysiology studies, Electrophysiology Ablations, Aortagram and runoff, Renal arteriography and renal vein renin sampling, Mesenteric angiography, Fistulagram, Thrombolysis, Cerebral angiogram, Arch and carotid angiogram, Inferior venacava filter, Adrenal angiogram with cortisol level sampling, PICC, Infusaport placements
– requires needling the infusaport,.

Percuteneous Intervention for Radiological procedures.

Transhepatic cholangiogram, Nephrostomy tube placement/ureteral stenting, uterine fibroid embolizations.

Staff member will be expected to assist in the education/training of other CVI/CVRU staff members.

Staff member will be expected to participate in Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement initiatives.

Assist in the coordination of day-today activities in the Cardiac Cath Lab.

Assist in facilitating patient throughput in the Cardiac Cath Lab working in conjunction with the physician providers, Inpatient Units, Emergency Department and Bed Management.

Liaison with the Inventory Control Specialist to ensure appropriate equipment is stocked and ready for the next case(s).

Stay abreast and communicate physician special equipment requests.

Liaison between patients and the Cath Lab when there are unplanned case delays and unanticipated changes in the case schedule.

Provide support to the Manager with changes in staff schedule and payroll.

Physical Requirements: Walking, standing, squatting, kneeling required throughout the shift.

Ability to lift and position patients required.

Category I risk exposure as defined by OSHA.

Wearing a lead apron during procedures.

Advanced level of manual dexterity for assembling intricate pressure monitoring, invasive equipment and coronary injection systems.

Busy inpatient setting providing care 24 hours per day, 7 days per week based upon on-call staffing.

Must be able to identify and differentiate colors.
