Enterprise Applications Administrator

St. John Fisher College

This is a Full-time position in Rochester, NY posted August 28, 2021.

The Enterprise Application Administrator is a team player whose primary function is to provide support and maintain various applications that include Blackboard LMS , Starfish, CS Access Gold, and others.

This role will also work closely with Safety & Security and Student Services departments.

This role will work closely with the Educational Technologist to manage the St.

John Fisher College’s Blackboard environment.

Job Responsibilities

– Manage customer reported incidents, service requests, and change requests.


– Collaborate and complete project work and support application testing with functional partners and Programmer Analysts.


– Maintain and support application integration and environment configurations.


– Coordinate patch, release, and maintenance activities for assigned applications and related integrated software.

Collaborate with the functional partners to establish system defaults, policies and procedures, and strategic plans for systems use and expansion.


– Coordinate more technical problems with application vendors directly and with the appropriate internal OIT Staff.


– Exploring new learning technologies and how they integrate with responsible Enterprise Applications 5%

– Responsible for managing the archiving and retrieval process for responsible Enterprise Application.


– Manage user roles.


– Manage application version change control process.


– Other duties as assigned

Education / Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; 5+ years professional experience in an IT setting; experience in higher education desirable but not required.


– Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

– Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

– Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, customers, and the general public.

– Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

– Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Required Skills:

– Prior experience in supporting users of Enterprise systems is highly desirable in this technical back end role.

– Familiar with user aspects, problems, implementation, set up and maintenance of online courses;

– Adept at troubleshooting user problems; supportive and cooperative with users

– Demonstrated experience with system administration

– Communicate well with others both verbally and in writing and be able to effectively interact with administration, faculty, staff and other outside contacts

– Organize and prioritize workload in order to meet necessary deadlines

– Make independent judgments/decisions within established guidelines

– Good organizational and interpersonal skills

Preferred Skills:

– Professional experience, preferred but not required, with the following applications:

– Amazon Web Services ( AWS )

– Podcasting and streaming video technologies such as Ensemble

– Possess advanced technical computer skills, including experience with content management software ( CMS ), Customer Relationship Management ( CRM ) software, basic programming, basic query writing, and data analysis.

– Experience with vendor relationship management

– Experience writing reports from enterprise systems data
