OverviewThe Cardiovascular Progressive Care nurse gives direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in compliance with recognized nursing care standards of practice and standards of care according to techniques, policies and procedures. The nurse directs nursing care by utilizing the nursing process and critical thinking skills while demonstrating a commitment for compassionate and quality patient care. The nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for assigning and delegating patient care appropriately to other members of the Interdisciplinary Health Care Team. The nurse complies with Human Resource Policies and participates as a member of the Patient Care Unit and Nursing Department by attending unit meetings, committees, and educational programs as assigned. The nurse achieves and maintains clinical competency as required by the role, unit and Professional Practice Program and is expected to meet expectations in his/her annual performance appraisals in all areas.Qualifications* Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through completion of a two year training at an accredited School of Nursing* Current New York State license or Permit as a Registered Professional Nurse* BLS, ACLS* Physically able to perform CPR, lift and transfer patients, document and stand/walk for extended periods of time and wear protective gear as appropriate for assigned area including, but not limited to, lead garments and isolation garments* Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 0-25 pounds* Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients and their families that demonstrate recognition of cultural diversity* Practice reflects customer service excellence* Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written format* Analytical ability to assess and develop solutions to clinical situations or unit problems* Maintains knowledge and proficiency in the clinical rea and age group served
