CHA Consulting Inc.

is currently seeking a Senior Scientist to join our Advanced Energy – Environmental group in our Albany, NY; Syracuse, NY; Rochester, NY; Buffalo, NY or Brooklyn, NY office.

When it comes to environmental issues, the goal is always to minimize risk.

CHA achieves this goal by having intimate knowledge of environmental regulations and properly assessing site conditions and applicable mitigation approaches.

We understand your goals and clearly communicate with you through the course of your sensitive environmental project.

We provide creative solutions to help clients investigate environmental problems, design cleanup solutions, and comply with regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this key lead role at CHA, our Senior Scientists plan technically complex work varying in size and execute field investigations with a solid knowledge of proper sampling techniques.

Our Scientists are masters at appropriately reviewing, evaluating and interpreting data, leading and developing materials for managers, colleagues, and clients; they are true advocates for company’s standards for quality control and compliance.

Our Scientists play an important role in reviewing background information for projects with critical thinking and understanding of the bigger picture, as well as directing and mentoring other scientists on the team.

Our Senior Scientists identify new project opportunities and assist with proposal development.

Our Scientists also identify permitting strategies, prepare permit applications and regulations.

Our Scientists oversee those who lead the preparation of large and complex environmental data sets, technical reports, and design tasks.

Our Scientists also are leaders in the development of external presentations for clients, the public, regulatory agencies, etc.
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or related field
Valid US driver’s license is required
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 10 years related experience required
Five or more years of experience with a variety of permitting for utility projects including Article 10, Article 7, Part 102, and ORES
Knowledge of and experience with environmental regulations, compliance, and interfacing and negotiating with regulators.
Ability to Manage a team supporting the project workload and client requirements.
Ability to lead the complex environmental permitting and design process for utility projects as well as other activities requiring the knowledge of Article 7/10, Part 102 and ORES requirements
Ability to plan and coordinate public outreach associated with public participation during the permitting process.
Identifies, develops, and gathers technical resources necessary to complete assignments
Responsible for maintaining company quality standards and assisting in the technical review of client deliverables
Has a proficient theoretical scientific knowledge
Experience with ArcMap or basic GIS Mapping required
Experience with Microsoft Word & Excel is required
Strong ability to work in a team environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must have the ability to work in the field in different weather conditions
Must be able to physically navigate in the field
