Join us on our mission to enable every developer to build world-changing applications!About The RoleWe are looking for a Technical Evangelist to join the Developer Relations team at Cockroach Labs. In this role, you will help us fulfill our mission to be the database of choice for developers building world-changing applications. You will do this by connecting with other developers and sharing your knowledge and experience about CockroachDB and other leading technologies at conferences and meetups, in contributed articles, and on blogs, podcasts, and social media. Your work will foster a community inspired by CockroachDB and will drive our strategy around developer love and CockroachDB’s participation in the cloud native space and the larger database industry.You Will• Build and execute evangelism programs that successfully deliver content, brand awareness, and community building• Lead the conversation around the latest technology advancements and best practices in the developer community• Support CockroachDB product and engineering efforts by sharing what you learn while engaging with the wider database community and tech communities at large• Contribute to the development of demos and sandbox environments leveraging CockroachDB and CockroachCloud in order to educate developers and inform technical contentThe ExpectationsIn your first 30 days, you will evaluate the existing Cockroach Labs community and our efforts within it and in the greater community. We believe that it’s important for you to take this first month to become familiar with our technology, our company, and our community.For your next 30 days, you will focus on communities largely consisting of application developers, full-stack software engineers, and the “language” communities (Python, Rugy, Java, Go). You will execute on strategies to engage deeper within these areas.After 90 days, you will be fully integrated onto the team. This includes writing CPFs, speaking at events, mentoring hackathons, and engaging on forums and at conferences with architects and application developers in our user community to understand and tell the full-stack story.You Have• Application development experience, and basic knowledge of ruby, java, or python• 10+ years total experience in a technical field with 3+ years of technical evangelism, developer relations, or community building experience within a technical space• Ability to build demos, presentations, and collateral for technical audiences• Ability to manage programs, with an understanding of how to set and measure goals against success criteria• Extensive experience and comfort presenting to groups• Deep understanding of modern compute platforms (containerization and orchestration) & public cloud platforms• Experience writing technical articles or blog posts• A natural affinity to forge relationships with developers and integrate & engage with developer communities• A collaborative spirit and an ability to problem-solve• Excellent writing and project management skillsThe TeamReporting to Lisa-Marie Namphy, Head of Developer RelationsLisa is a developer advocate and community architect, and has been a long time contributor, advocate (and fan) of open source software.
