Catering Operations Manager

CPS Events at The Plaza Hotel

This is a Full-time position in New York, NY posted August 27, 2021.

Strategic Purpose of Position
This position is responsible for selling and servicing various types of events while maximizing revenue, keeping within the sales guidelines, and aligning performance and efforts with the company objectives and goals.
Qualifications of Position

    -Minimum of five years of catering sales experience, or similar
    -Knowledge of food and beverage as it relates to cost, execution and menu items
    -Knowledge of product, specifically size, capacities and event production
    -Knowledge of competition including price, size of venue, capacity, etc.
    -Knowledge of floor plans and room set ups
    -Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, specifically Word and Excel.
    -Knowledge of Delphi & Salesforce software system
    -Ability to communicate effectively with associates, managers, client and vendors
    -Able to work flexible schedule in order to accommodate business levels when necessary

Essential Job Functions

• Effectively sell and service events

• Handle inquiries for Corporate meetings under 25 guests

• Handle all in-house meetings

• Handle Fairmont Inquiries under 25 guests

• Help service accounts

• Help service corporate meetings at the direction of the Director of Corporate Sales

• Create floor plans and banquet events orders (BEOs)

• Conduct site inspections

• Create proposals and contracts

• Participate in event execution to ensure client satisfaction

• Maintain relationships with existing clients for repeat business

• Collect money for events (deposits and balances)

• Coordinate events and assist in gathering information and menus from clients, creating change logs, revised banquet event orders and diagrams when needed

• Run credit card transactions, deposit checks, follow up and track wire transfer for proper allocation for client payments

• Coordinate special electrical, telephone and technological requirements for clients and events with outside vendors and coordinate billing

• Coordinate loading, delivery, and pick up schedule for events with third party vendors and clients

• Assist fellow Sales Managers during events as needed

• Attend weekly BEO meetings to discuss details of upcoming events

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

o Report all suspicious persons or activities and hazardous or unsafe conditions to Security

o Perform other duties as assigned to ensure overall operational success.

o Participate in company sponsored training classes as necessary

o Follow proper time keeping policies and procedure

o Follow the sign in/out procedures for keys

o Know and follow all CPS Events emergency and safety procedures
