This is a Contract position in Suffolk County, NY posted May 22, 2020.

Covaxx, a subsidiary of the UBI Group, has joined the fight against COVID-19 and is rapidly developing precision antibody-based assays and vaccine candidates needed to successfully manage and slow the rate of the outbreak.

As a result, Covaxx is quickly expanding to meet aggressive development and production goals, and is seeking to immediately hire a Sample Manager to support the development of novel immunoassays and vaccines to address COVID-19.

This individual will be the primary point of contact for receipt, validation, cataloging, and internal distribution of biological samples to support the company’s product development efforts.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Maintaining oversight of the status and quality of all biological samples received, stored, and used by the company for product development purposes.

Collaborates with R&D, Quality Control, and other stakeholders to ensure validity and necessary quality of the company’s sample library.

Sets-up and performs a variety of routine and/or complex laboratory tests and procedures relevant to the sample laboratory.

Prepares and tests specimens for examination and reports results.

Follows established in-process quality control procedures including recording data.

Performs routine and/or preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.

Troubleshoots basic instrumentation, culture media, chemicals, reagents, stains, solutions, technical problems and methodologies.

Prioritizes and processes samples and performs various laboratory functions as elaborated in the Policy and Procedure manual.

Observes and evaluates test results, and records necessary data on laboratory reports and notifies supervisory staff in time related to problems.

Issues sample components on timely basis following established guidelines.

Under supervision, may perform a variety of teaching duties related to training of technical staff, new employees, etc.

Ensures and maintains quality control and assurance activities.

Qualifications: B.S./B.A.

in Biology/Chemistry or related Life Sciences field with five to ten years of experience in Quality Control, Clinical, or other laboratory functioning under GLP guidelines.

Knowledge of GLPs, cGMPs, 21 CFR 211 (pharmaceuticals), 21 CFR 600 (biologics), USP/NF, EPA, OSHA regulations required.

Demonstrated knowledge of U.S.

and foreign diagnostic and/or pharmaceutical regulatory requirements.

Proficient with sample data reporting and management metrics.

Demonstrated knowledge of GCP guidelines Effective team player with the ability to collaborate with cross functional teams Proficient in writing and communication skills Prior experience in a BSL-2 laboratory Work Setting: All candidates must be willing to work on a full-time basis at Covaxx’s headquarters in Hauppauge, New York.
