Vice President, Broker


This is a Full-time position in New York, NY posted December 14, 2021.

The Role

The Financial Lines Broker is responsible for providing effective management and professional liability insurance solutions for NFP clients, working alongside the Account Executive, Sales Leader and other internal resources to execute client brokerage services.

As the primary market-facing client representative, they will seek to effectuate bespoke solutions to address the client’s risk and insurance goals in a timely manner.

Scope of Responsibilities:

This position works with internal and external clients.

The position partners with key established stakeholders within the entire NFP enterprise on opportunities, including:

  • Overseeing account management and retention of sometimes complex insurance and risk management clients;
  • Working collaboratively with Account Managers and Sales Executives (Producers) to service, develop and retain consultative, partnership relationships with clients and prospects;
  • Leveraging market and coverage knowledge to help retain and cross-sell current accounts and prospect (as requested) new business opportunities;
  • Delivering NFP value proposition by communicating regularly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure client goals are being met or exceeded; and 
  • Engaging retail and wholesale insurance markets to place best-in-class insurance programs addressing client risk profile and related exposures.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Aide in development and implementation of insurance and/or alternative risk solutions and comprehensive service plans of sometimes complex nature due to the size of the clients’ business that demonstrate NFP’s value and drive high retention rates.
  • Serve as the main conduit to the market for placement, trends, and changes with carriers / coverage terms.
  • Ensure accuracy of all documentation from the markets prior to sending to the Account Executive or Sales Executives as well as to clients.
  • Participate as requested in client service visits and presentations with internal service teams, carrier partners and vendors – in coordination with Account Executive
  • Serve as secondary point-of-contact for all escalated (major and/or complex) client issues to ensure proper resolution with internal and/or external partners (carriers, third-party administrators, etc.).

    Provide day-to-day servicing support to clients when needed. 

  • Assist in review of account renewals by evaluating coverage, services and alternative rating plans and solutions, while recognizing the size and complexity of the client account; research policies from different insurers and arrange insurance coverage. 
  • Coordinate with Account Executives, Sales Executives and other internal resources to prepare at times complex proposals at competitive cost and coverage and advocate for best interests of clients.

    Review all documentation created by the Associate Brokers.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and meet with Account Executives and/or Sales Executives to evaluate new business opportunities with prospects and clients for the large and complex accounts.

    Identify opportunities and seek referrals from existing clients as agreed to by Account Executive.

  • Communicate with client and service team with regularity, thus ensuring quick resolution of issues and providing superior value.
  • Prepare and potentially present, in conjunction Account Executive and/or Sales Executive, on renewal proposals to insured, including premiums, pay plans coverage, limits and options.

    Upon winning new business, help in onboarding new clients.

  • Work on NFP initiatives and projects generally of a complex nature as assigned.
  • Network with other insurance professionals to keep informed of industry trends. 
  • Understand and adhere to the NFP’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the NFP’s Risk Appetite.

    Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the NFP brand.
  • Maintain NFP internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Limited, but at times Account Managers, Associate Brokers, Assistants etc.
